Audrey Artignan

Consultant

Graduated from UCL with a degree in Human Genetics, followed by a Master’s degree in Epidemiology from the University of Cambridge.

2017

Joined Costello Medical in September as an Analyst/Medical Writer Intern in the Literature Reviews and Synthesis Team, working on systematic and pragmatic literature reviews, as well as my first pro-bono project with a local sight-loss charity.

2018

Successfully interviewed for a permanent Analyst position, taking on more responsibility for client communication and day-to-day coordination of projects. I particularly enjoyed gaining a thorough understanding of the natural history and treatment landscape in a range of disease areas.

2019

Promoted to Senior Analyst in October.

As Costello Medical began to win its first real-world evidence projects, I was excited to put my epidemiological background to use on the analysis of healthcare claims databases. This work led to an internal research project which saw me attend the European conference of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) in Copenhagen to present our results.

2020

My role expanded further and I began to take on more responsibility for the strategic management of literature reviews and real-world evidence projects, including developing proposals and pitching to new clients. It has been particularly rewarding to see how the successful delivery of our first database analyses has driven more work in this service offering.

I have also taken on additional internal responsibilities which involved recruitment for our new Epidemiologist position to increase the capability of the real-world evidence team.

2021

As part of the formalised Real-World Evidence (RWE) team, I have helped to manage teams working on new types of projects for the company, including analyses of electronic medical records, hypothetical protocols and data landscaping projects. My responsibilities have also grown to include team planning, business development and line-management of junior colleagues.

2023

Having put a lot of effort in recruiting new colleagues, the RWE team has now grown which has allowed us to really diversify the types of projects we are working on. This means I have been able to lead on a diverse range of projects which included the development of database analyses, surveys, literature reviews and data source landscaping, writing manuscripts and even some economic modelling. This variety is something I have always enjoyed about my role.

The most rewarding project I have had the opportunity to work on this year has been driving evidence generation to support the reimbursement of a drug for a rare condition. I also developed a research poster on this topic, which was in a top 5% finalist at the 2023 ISPOR Europe conference in Copenhagen.
