Senior Accounts Assistant

Studied Maths, Biology and Psychology for A-Levels at Saffron Walden County High School.

2021

I started my journey with Costello Medical in February 2021 as an Account Apprentice less than a year after finishing sixth form. The team was incredibly supportive, providing me with lots of training and mentoring.

My apprenticeship training was the AAT Level 3 qualification with First Intuition, funded by Costello Medical, which I completed in August 2022. During my apprenticeship, I worked on both the sales and purchase ledgers, gaining valuable and varied experience whilst I was studying.

2022

After completing my apprenticeship training, I was promoted to Accounts Assistant in August. This role allowed me to continue my AAT training, moving on to Level 4. In this new role, I started working more independently, focusing predominantly on sales ledger processes and applying my training to real-world scenarios.

2023

In October 2023, I was promoted to Senior Accounts Assistant. Now, I manage accounts processes as well as training and mentoring junior team members. Reviewing their work and helping them improve has been very rewarding.

I also help recruit new apprentices, which is a lovely full-circle moment! Being able to use my experiences as an Apprentice to find new colleagues is something I really enjoy.

Moving forward, our team is focusing heavily on autonomy, technology and AI to reduce time spent on admin-heavy tasks as well as to improve our analysis and reporting tools.
