Patsy Silvester

Consultant

Graduated with a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Birmingham before completing a Master of Research in Metabolic and Cardiovascular Diseases and a PhD in Clinical Biochemistry at the Institute of Metabolic Science, both with the University of Cambridge.

2018

Joined Costello Medical as an Analyst within the HTA and Health Economics Team. Later this year, I made the decision to move to the Medical Affairs Team where some of my favourite projects focused on medical education for healthcare professionals.

2019

Promoted to the Senior Analyst role where the variety of projects I worked on expanded further to include pro bono projects and work with some of our public sector clients.

I am also involved in various internal initiatives for the company, including recruitment for our Scientific Internship and Analyst/Medical Writer roles.

2021

Promoted to the Consultant role in April. Whilst I am still a member of Medical Affairs, I am now spending more time with our Pro Bono Team, which launched in 2021. This includes recruiting for the team and driving the growth of the projects that we can deliver to charities and non-profit organisations, including finding new charities we can offer our support to.

2022

I started the year in a new Interim Pro Bono Lead role, where I was responsible for the recently formed Pro Bono Team and overseeing all pro bono efforts across the wider company. As we solidified our charitable efforts, we also grew our team by recruiting 3 new colleagues who’s time was dedicated to pro bono work as well as supporting a larger number of colleagues from across Costello Medical’s global offices who were delivering ad-hoc pro bono projects to their clients. This culminated in us spending a total of 1,487 days on charitable projects for 34 non-profits globally – such an amazing achievement!

This was also the year that we had the opportunity to attend face-to-face meetings again with clients and healthcare professionals for project meetings or events – the first time since the global pandemic. For example, I took part in Advisory Boards and attended congresses, such as the European Hematology Association (EHA) Congress.

This was also the year that I relocated to Costello Medical’s newest office, in Bristol!

2024

I started the year by returning from parental leave and I am looking forward to delving back into my work with the Medical Affairs and Pro Bono Teams. In my role, I will be managing a variety of project types, including core medical communications services, and overseeing some exciting projects for new non-profit organisations as we continue to expand our efforts to give back to the healthcare sector.
